The Mobius ring in the bamboo forest! Giant Panda National Park officially "debuts"
On October 12, President Xi Jinping attended the 15th Conference of the Parties Leaders Summit of the Convention on Biological Diversity and delivered a keynote speech. In his speech, Xi Jinping announced that China has officially established the first batch of national parks such as Sanjiangyuan, Giant Panda, Siberian Tiger and Leopard, Hainan Tropical Rainforest, and Wuyi Mountain.
Incorporating natural forms, three-petal Mobius ring, abstract and agile panda image... In Ya'an, Sichuan, one of the start-up projects of the Giant Panda National Park in Sichuan-the construction of the Ya'an Popular Science Education Center of the Giant Panda National Park, Build a harmonious symbiosis between witnesses and nature. The project is an important content of the pilot work of the national park system. It covers an area of about 14,000 square meters and a total construction area of 5,342 square meters. It is responsible for education, publicity and exhibition functions. With the aim of "openness, greenness and innovation", the design team breaks the closed exhibition mode of traditional exhibition buildings, highlights the integration and openness with the surrounding environment, and creates interactive high-performance green buildings.
Mobius ring in the bamboo forest
Looking far from the Ya'an North Exit of the Ya'an Expressway, you can see the black and white buildings quietly standing in the bamboo forest. The elegantly stretched curved shape and the aluminum metal skin are integrated with the surrounding lush environment.
Uth ring means to twist a piece of paper by 180° and then glue the two ends together and walk on the paper.
You can walk the entire note without crossing the edge. The design of the project draws on this concept and contains the meaning of "endlessness". Let the building rise from the ground to the highest point near the entrance, and then return to the ground to form a special three-petal Mobius ring. Visitors can enter the outdoor exhibition from the indoor exhibition without hindrance.
This design entrusts the blessing to the giant panda and abstracts the panda form characteristics. The circles representing the provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu are connected end to end to form a cyclical dynamic plane. It reflects the structural characteristics of the giant panda park "across three provinces and divided into four districts".
In order to show the theme, while avoiding clichéd figurative techniques: the facade of the building uses a vertical metal grille curtain wall and adopts a black and white panda color. You can feel the atmosphere of being surrounded by it everywhere you go.
Infinite fun in a limited space
Fluidity is the key to space design. The design team provides full openness and interaction through the interweaving of internal and external circulation, creating a vibrant space for all people to participate.
Enter from the entrance hall, enter the exhibition hall on the first floor along the ramp, and then return to the entrance hall from the stairs at the end, forming a perfect closed loop of organic connection. In the "limited" utilization area, an "unlimited" exhibition path that is as long as possible and full of interest is formed. Emphasize the "possibility", weaken the order and directionality, and emphasize the series and integration of streamlines between different regions.
In addition to the internal circulation, with the help of the undulating annular roof, an open outdoor tour route is designed to integrate the outdoor exhibition hall and the roof space. With the undulating planting roof, people's footsteps can extend to every corner of the building, making it easy to move around and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
Adhering to the concept of design blending with nature, the exhibition hall is arranged centripetally around the inner courtyard. Visitors can enjoy the green bamboo landscape of the courtyard. Watching the exhibition in the sun is another experience created by the design team, which is different from the conventional enclosed artificial environment.
The project strives to introduce bamboo forests, fresh breeze, and sunlight into the interior, isolate unfavorable direct light through the double skin, and obtain soft diffused light with the help of the atrium, creating an infinite exhibition space like a natural oxygen bar for visitors in a limited space.
Green exhibition space in the hometown of pandas
Ya'an has been rainy since ancient times, and the special natural conditions have provided inherent advantages for the rainwater utilization of the project. In the structure, invisible gutters are used to collect rainwater for unified collection and filtration. The utilization rate of non-traditional water sources can reach 30.5% during project operation, which is more than twice that of conventional projects.
In response to the noise interference from the surrounding roads, the design team chose the greenest noise reduction method-planting different varieties of bamboo forests around the site to form an outdoor botanical garden. At the same time, the exterior corridors of a small number of office areas face the noise during the layout, and the double-layer wall of the building further reduces the noise to create a quiet space hidden in the city.
The project meets the design requirements of Green Building Samsung and integrates green building thinking into the architectural design. Some exhibition halls are placed underground and semi-underground to reduce the impact of the building on the surrounding environment. Passive measures such as roof covering, natural ventilation, and thick wall heat storage enhance the ecological demonstration value of the building.
